In this episode of Prophetic Voices, we’ll be discussing the lectionary for Advent 2 (C). The texts covered in this episode are Canticle 16 (The Song of Zechariah) and Luke 3:1-5. Our amazing guests this week are:
- The Rev. Sarah Shipman, director of Episcopal Migration Ministries and a transitional deacon in the Diocese of Kansas. Sarah’s background in government service, including as an assistant attorney general serving vulnerable populations, led her to the life-changing work of welcoming the stranger. Sarah collects hobbies and is currently learning to love cats after a lifetime of avoiding them.
- The Rev. Canon Leyla K. King, a Palestinian-American Episcopal priest and author of the forthcoming book, Daughters of Palestine: A Memoir in Five Generations. She is a founding member of Palestinian Anglicans and Clergy Allies (palestiniananglicans.org) and The Small Churches Big Impact Collective (smallchurchesbigimpact.org). Currently, she serves as the Canon for Mission in Small Congregations for the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas.
- The tenacious and kind Lindsey Delks, a policy advisor within the Office of Government Relations for The Episcopal Church, where he handles all domestic policy. In his free time, he enjoys the theater and watching rugby.
Prophetic Voices is hosted by the Rev. Isaiah “Shaneequa” Brokenleg, The Episcopal Church’s staff officer for Racial Reconciliation. For more information on Becoming Beloved Community, visit iam.ec/becomingbelovedcommunity.
